Patellofemoral Pain
|
Patello-femoral pain
syndrome (PFPS) is the most common knee disorder
most orthopedists encounter. The patient commonly presents with anterior knee pain that worsens with stairs, prolonged sitting/flexion, and kneeling or squatting activities. The condition may result from acute injury to the patella or from chronic friction between the patella and the groove in the femur.
The condition is sometimes referred to as
"Runners Knee" and "Chondromalacia Patella". Patella
Femoral Braces usually are knee bands or
buttress donuts around the knee cap, to
stabilize the knee and prevent excessive
motion.
