Meniscus Injuries
|
The Meniscus are small, "c" shaped pieces of
cartilage that act as cushions in the knee
joint. The two meniscus are fairly tough and
rubbery, and usually tear as a result of a
forceful twisting injury. Pain may be felt
along the edge of the knee joint closest to
where the meniscus is located. Hinged style
braces reduce the chance of knee twisting by
stabilizing the knee and preventing
rotation. Two types of hinges are
non-adjustable with complete range of
motion, and adjustable hinges, where you
control flexion and/or extension of the knee
brace.
