Elbow Bursitis
|
Bursitis
is inflammation of a bursa which is a tiny fluid-filled sac that functions as a gliding surface to reduce friction
usually between bone and soft tissue. The bursa
at the elbow joint allows the skin to move freely over the underlying bone. Normally, the bursa is flat,
but if it becomes irritated or inflamed,
pain, swelling and redness usually occurs.
Treatment involves resting the area, apply
cold therapy to reduce pain and swelling,
and compression to control edema.
Various elbow supports offer ideal
compression for this condition.
