Q: What options are available and what do they do?

A: The CTi brace has many options to choose from. Listed below is a brief description of the option and what it is used for.

ACL Cable: This feature maximizes support for the patient with an anterior cruciate deficiency. Its purpose is to prevent the lower leg from sliding/rotating forward by applying additional pressure just below the knee cap.

PCL Brace Model: The PCL brace model is designed for the posterior cruciate deficient patient. The extended thigh member applies a force to the quadriceps, while the lower calf plate applies a forward thrust to the lower leg. These two forces work together to prevent the lower leg from sliding backward which is what occurs in a PCL deficient patient.

Patella Cup: The patella cup provides excellent knee cap protection during high-impact activities.

Ski Boot Attachment: This device aids in binding release to protect the knee from potential ligament damaging forces. The object of the ski boot attachment is to diffuse forces over the surface area of the brace and redirect the diminished forces.

Flexion Stop Kit: The flexion stop kit is intended to limit the range of motion of the brace. It is not intended for use during high force activities such as sports or other aggressive physical movements.

Custom Paint Option: The CTi brace can be custom airbrushed in a variety of colors and designs. Each custom colored brace is individually hand-painted and can be made to match most sports equipment and active wear. Custom braces can be painted in team colors. Extra charges apply.

Q:Can I use the CTi brace in water?

A: Yes, all Innovation Sports braces are non-corrosive and have been designed with water sports in mind. We recommend the use of an oversleeve when participating in water sports to insure that straps will remain firmly attached in high speed falls. If you will be using the brace in salt water, be sure to rinse the brace and the straps with clear water after each use to remove any salt or debris that might remain.

Q:What's different about the CTi as compared to other knee braces?

A: Innovation Sports is the only knee brace manufacturer to offer a life-time warranty on frame and hinges and a one year warranty on the fit of the brace. Should your leg change at all within a year of purchase, we will readjust or remake the brace as necessary. The CTi, Edge, and MVP knee braces are designed with the fundamental bracing theory of a rigid frame design. We strongly believe that a rigid frame design is necessary for proper knee control. The rigid system provides brace-to-bone contact, without bending or deflecting, to maintain femur-tibial alignment.

Q: What's the difference between a custom and an off-the-shelf brace?

A: A custom knee brace is hand-crafted to its owner's measurements. An off-the-shelf brace is a patient ready brace available in a variety of sizes. An off-the-shelf brace is available immediately for same day shipping and are often stocked in medical offices. The braces are frequently used to help prevent injuries. An off-the-shelf brace is also a cost-effective brace that is usually covered by insurance companies who do not cover custom braces. Innovation Sports offers a variety of off-the-shelf braces to fit your needs. The prefabricated brace sizing is based on a simple caliper measurement taken at the joint line.

Q: I am having a problem with my brace slipping down my leg. Why is this happening?

A: Sometimes slippage is caused by improper application. The brace must be applied in the proper sequence. Sit down with your leg at a 90-degree angle and align the bottom of the condylar pads with the bottom of the kneecap. The most important straps are the lower cruciate strap and the bottom strap. The lower cruciate strap must be comfortably snug so the brace can suspend on the gastroc muscle. If you are still having problems, we have an AMS wrap (non-slip sleeve) that you can get at no cost by calling 866-578-3484.

Q: I am getting an allergic reaction to the rubber on my CTi. What can I do?

A: We have replacement padding called Evazote. We recommend sending the brace back to our factory so we can replace all the padding. Call 866-578-3484 for details.
