What is K-Wire fixation?

X-ray of foot following bunion surgery and K-Wire fixation. This form of fixation is used by many orthopedists and podiatrists to hold the surgically cut bone in place.

A non-weightbearing cast or walking boot is sometimes used to protect the surgical site and allow proper healing of the surgery.
